Eucalyptus Risk Mitigation Program

Introduction

The Eucalyptus Program is funded by the Los Altos Hills County Fire District to try and responsibly reduce the risks that are posed by Eucalyptus trees in our district.

Voluntary

The program is entirely voluntary.  Property owners can choose not to participate in this program, or they can opt to take advantage of it to reduce the risks associated with these trees.

How Does It Work?

The Los Altos Hills County Fire District sends out letters with return postcards to homeowners within the district.

Based on response cards that are returned, residents who indicate an interest in the program are visited by the District’s arborist to permit an examination of the tree(s) in question.  At this meeting you can discuss the details of what measures are suggested for your property, and potentially have the plans refined to meet any constraints you might have.  If you agree to what is proposed, you will be asked to sign an agreement permitting the work to be done.  This work (which may involve anything from minor debris clean-up to trimming or even complete removal) will then be performed at NO COST to yourself.

If further information is needed, please contact the Los Altos Hills County Fire District at (650) 949-1044 weekdays between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
