Help your neighborhood become safer!
- Make sure your neighbors are signed up for AlertSCC
- Host a Go Bag/Stay Bag Building workshop with your neighbors
- Join the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Back to School
Disasters happen everywhere; help every member of the family prepare!
- Join and volunteer with Teen CERT
- Sign up for emergency communications from your child’s school and update their emergency contacts lists
- Teach children to be ready by creating a plan and have them build their own safety kit
SEPTEMBER
National Preparedness Month
Disasters and emergencies can happen anytime.
- Make sure you have an emergency supply of medications
- People with disabilities should consider all the items they use daily, as well as life-sustaining items
- Know 2 ways out if you have to evacuate your home

- Check your smoke alarms
- Create and practice a home fire escape plan

Make a resolution to Be Ready for the New Year!
- Conduct an annual insurance check up
- Check emergency food and water supply for expiration dates
- Snap photos of important documents and save them in a secure place or online
