Be Ready Be Prepared: Animal Preparedness August 22, 2026Emergencies affect our entire household, including our animals. This class focuses on creating a pet-inclusive emergency plan that keeps pets safe, calm, and supported during evacuations, shelter-in place events, and Public Safety Power Shutoff events.

Topics Covered

  • Building a personalized pet go bag (food, medications, carriers, toys, etc.)
  • Creating a pet evacuation and reunification plan, including backup caregivers
  • Keeping pets safe during inclement weather events and disaster situations

Presented by Fire Captain Denise Gluhan (ret.), LAHCFD Community Education and Risk Reduction Manager 

Fire Captain Gluhan (ret.) retired from the Santa Clara County Fire Department in December 2018 and joined the Los Altos Hills County Fire District in 2019. She provides community education and information to the residents of Los Altos Hills, including emergency preparedness, wildfire preparedness, and the Firewise USA program.
