In the interest of creating defensible space and reducing hazardous vegetation on residential properties, the District has arranged for a once-a-month service whereby District residents can drop off hazardous vegetation, such as pruned limbs, brush, and branches associated with fire safety efforts to trucks provided by GreenWaste Recovery.
How The Defensible Space Vegetation Removal Monthly Drop Off Service Works
Drop-off containers will be located at the Foothill College Campus – Parking Lot 1 on the third Saturday of every month, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There is no charge for this service to district residents.
To participate, resident must:
- show valid Photo I.D with address or current garbage bill.
- accompany any firm hired to deliver the material on every trip.
Program Information
GreenWaste staff cannot unload materials from vehicles unless residents are physically unable to unload their own materials. Vehicles delivering “loose” materials are limited to one (1) ton in size (e.g. pick-up trucks).
Only brush and yard trimmings will be accepted. Any material considered contaminated will not be accepted at the events. The following materials will NOT be accepted, as they are considered contaminants at the processing facility:
- NO garbage or other recyclables
- NO rocks, dirt, concrete, ashes, asphalt or construction materials
- NO stumps or tree trunks larger than 4 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter
- NO poison ivy, poison oak, palm fronds, cactus, ice plants or bug-infested materials
- NO fruits or vegetables
- NO painted trees
Social distancing protocols will be in place. Be prepared to offload materials on your own while maintaining a six-foot distance and to wearing a face covering.
How To Sign Up For This Service
