Project Description
Portions of Moody – El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills, California represent a significant thoroughfare for the Los Altos Hills Community. This road serves as egress and ingress for emergency services. To secure the integrity of egress/ingress, the Los Altos Hills County Fire District proposes a roadside treatment of fuels.

Project Site
The 2025 Moody – El Monte evacuation route project treated seven (7) roads along the evacuation Route and will include Moody Road, Tepa Way, Summit Wood Road, La Loma Drive, Prospect Avenue, Stonebrook Drive, El Monte Road, and the I280 – El Monte Road Cloverleaf/Interchange.
The Western end of the project is located at the intersection of Moody Road and Page Mill Road. The Eastern end of the project is located at the intersection of Summerhill Avenue and El Monte Road.
Phase 1:
- Moody Road from El Monte Road to Page Mill Road. Approximately 2.8 linear miles, 5.6 treated miles.
- Tepa Way from Moody Road to Summit Wood Road. Approximately 0.2 linear miles, 0.4 treated miles.
- Summit Wood Road from Tepa Way to La Loma Drive. Approximately 0.4 linear miles, 0.8 treated miles.
- La Loma Drive from Summit Wood Road to Prospect Avenue. Approximately 0.3 linear miles, 0.6 treated miles.
- Prospect Avenue from La Loma Drive to Stonebrook Drive. Approximately 0.4 linear miles, 0.8 treated miles.
- Stonebrook Drive from Prospect Avenue to El Monte Road. Approximately 0.4 linear miles, 0.8 treated miles.
- El Monte Road from Stonebrook Drive to Moody Road. Approximately 0.6 linear miles, 1.2 treated miles.
- Phase 1 treated area: approximately 5.1 linear miles, 10.2 treated miles.
Phase 2:
- El Monte Road from Stonebrook Drive to Summerhill Avenue. Approximately 0.5 linear miles, 1 treated mile.
- I-280 Interchange at El Monte Road. Approximately 2.1 linear miles, 4.2 treated miles.
- Phase 2 treated area: approximately 2.6 linear miles, 5.2 treated miles.
Total treated area: approximately 7.7 linear miles, 15.4 treated miles.
Treatment History
2021 November Initial Treatment
The initial treatment of Moody – El Monte treated two (2) roadways:
- Moody Road from El Monte Road to Page Mill Road
- El Monte Road from Stonebrook Drive to Moody Road.
Project length: approximately 6.8 treated miles
2025 June Maintenance Treatment
The 2025 maintenance treatment of Moody – El Monte treated seven (7) roadways and the I-280 Interchange at El Monte Road:
- Moody Road from El Monte Road to Page Mill Road.
- Tepa Way from Moody Road to Summit Wood Road.
- Summit Wood Road from Tepa Way to La Loma Drive.
- La Loma Drive from Summit Wood Road to Prospect Avenue.
- Prospect Avenue from La Loma Drive to Stonebrook Drive.
- Stonebrook Drive from Prospect Avenue to El Monte Road.
- El Monte Road from Stonebrook Drive to Moody Road.
- El Monte Road from Stonebrook Drive to Summerhill Avenue.
- I-280 Cloverleaf at El Monte Road.
