Fire and Emergency

Our District is served by the station house located on the Foothill College Campus at 12355 El Monte Avenue. This modern facility some of the most advanced apparatus and equipment available today for performing fire suppression, medical and emergency response, and rescue operations, all provided through our contract with the Santa Clara County Fire Department. (More information on the SCCFD can be found at the Santa Clara County Fire Department web site.)

While we associate a Fire Department as dealing with fire emergencies, by far the majority of incidents do not involve fire!  More than 2/3rds of incidents are medical emergencies (illnesses, injuries, and accidents).  A smaller proportion are service calls of all kinds: flooding, citizen assists, lock-outs, hazardous materials, etc.

Ourbadge station provides 24/7 coverage for the entire District, with three shifts of at least four firefighters and a Battalion Chief.  Every firefighter is trained to at least Emergency Technician (EMT) level, and at least one on each shift is fully qualified as a paramedic.

Accreditation

logo_cfaiIn 2005, the Santa Clara County Fire Department was awarded “Accredited Agency” status by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). In August 2010, the Santa Clara County Fire Department successfully completed the reaccreditation process and was awarded a second five-year term as an “Accredited Agency.”  Just over 130 fire departments around the world have successfully completed the rigorous process of evaluating every facet of their operations to ensure continuous quality improvement and enhancement of service delivery to their communities. County Fire is proud to be one of only nine California fire departments to display this level of commitment to validating quality service.
